Who We Are

Serving Communities with Compassion, Justice, and Purpose Since 1973

The Social Service Guild (SSG) is a voluntary, nonprofit organization formed as an extension of Kristu Jyoti College (KJC), Thambuchetty Palya. Established in 1968, KJC has long championed academic excellence, social responsibility, and community service. As urban poverty and inequality grew around the region, the college responded with outreach initiatives that evolved into SSG. In 1973, SSG became a registered society under the Mysore Societies Registration Act (Reg. No. 321/73-74), enabling long-term partnerships and government-backed development programs.

Our Journey

Our Journey of Transformation

SSG’s first major project was the construction of 125 houses in Anandapura. This was followed by housing projects in Jyothinagar, Halehalli, and Chikkabasavanapura, offering secure shelter and dignity to families.

SSG led the liberation of bonded labourers trapped in stone quarries at Chikkabasavanapura. These families were later resettled in Swathanthranagar (Freedom Town)—a living symbol of resilience and hope.

Income-generating programs in tailoring, farming, brick-making, and animal husbandry were introduced. Women’s empowerment was prioritized through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), enabling financial independence. To support working women, childcare crèches were set up across villages.

Recognizing the lack of supportive learning environments at home, SSG established learning and activity centres in multiple localities, including Bhattarahalli, Jyothinagar, Anandapura, Chikkabasavanapura, Halehalli, Bosco Nagar, Swathanthranagar, Priyankanagar, Janatha Colony, and Kithiganoor. These centres focus on academic support, mentorship, and holistic development, ensuring every child grows with dignity and confidence.
